How do I get the green tick or Meta Verified badge on WhatsApp Business?

Many people still search for the WhatsApp "green tick", but Meta's current documentation describes a blue checkmark next to a verified business name. How you get it depends on whether your number runs on the WhatsApp Business API or the WhatsApp Business app. The two routes have different rules and different costs.

Official Business Account on the API

Meta's Official Business Account page lists five conditions. All must be true before you apply:

• Your business follows the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy.
• The number has been registered on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days.
• Your business portfolio has completed Meta business verification.
• Two-step verification is switched on for the number.
• The display name is approved.

To apply in WhatsApp Manager, go to the number, open Profile, and submit a request under Official business account. If you meet the criteria but see no option, Meta says to contact your Solution Provider or Meta support. Meeting the checklist does not guarantee approval, because Meta reviews each business for authenticity. A consistent brand name across your website, social profiles and listings helps.

The badge has a practical benefit too. Meta says numbers without Official Business Account status do not show up when users search for them inside WhatsApp, unless the user already saved the number.

Meta Verified on the WhatsApp Business app

For the app, the badge is part of a paid Meta subscription. WhatsApp began rolling out Meta Verified for businesses in Brazil, India, Indonesia and Colombia in June 2024, with a badge, impersonation protection and enhanced support. In September 2026 Meta announced Meta One business plans. Meta says the Essential plan, from US$14.99 a month, includes a verified badge and impersonation protection, pending successful verification, and that plans, pricing and availability vary by region, app and account.
